So I was just talking to Richard on msn, and he told me something quite shocking.
When I read it is was so shocked, it felt like 200 volts of shockingness shocking right through me like a bolt of lightning which was itself feeling quite shocked as it read the screen, it even stopped to say "HOLY FUCKING CRAP I AM SHOCKED BY THIS SHOCKING REVELATION." The lightning bolt was so shocked it stopped to ponder this shocking fact while was sitting there being both shocked by what Richard just told me and the lightning bolt, which at this point was still too shocked to consider the shocking reality that it is shockingly impossible for a lighting bolt to pass through a building during a cloudless night. I am only just coming to terms with the shocking news that Richard shockingly delivered to me to even comprehend how shocked I will be when I consider that shocking paradox of being struck by lightning indoors.

Sorry for this guys, but the school wont let me into my email to print out my essay in class, so im posting it on here.
The crimson heat flooded my surroundings and drowned everything in a blistering haze. The sand itched at my feet before dragging itself off towards the shimmering horizon. Everything here seemed to happen in slow motion, the heat made it difficult to focus. Cars meandered at a leisurely pace beaten and broken by time and temperature. People plodded through the sand as if it were a thick golden mud. The day was in no hurry. The only contrast to the local pallet was the occasional palm tree or grass plant sprouting in the patches of shade between the old stone buildings.
I only knew a little of the language, and my attempts never ever sounded as a aggressive. I hate the feeling that I’m being yelled at when I’m only buying breakfast. The whole street sounded like it was in the midst of an intense argument. Even the traffic seemed caught up in the angst. Engines revved furiously, in chorus with the cries of a thousand squeaky horns. The din became overwhelming.
I decided to retreat. I found shelter in the form of a rather battered looking cafe. The glass in the windows was foggy, effectively sandblasted. The door frame seemed to resent the hideous beige that had attempted to smother it, and appeared to be successfully resisting as more and more paint flaked and fluttered to the floor leaving patches of bare wood showing. Sand was gathering in the base of the doorway, as if it too were seeking shelter from the harsh outdoors.
The aroma of coffee and thick cigarette smoke, a universally recognised scent, filled my nostrils. I took a seat at a booth by the window and grabbed a dog-eared menu. If I could point at something on the menu and not seem too rude, I could eat. A few moments later I sat back and allowed myself to sink into the awkward yet welcome comfort of the worn chair and began to wonder.
How had I ended up there? Journalism was my passion, I had dreamed of all the exciting and vibrant places it could take me to. This was not what I had in mind at all. Still, everyone had to start somewhere and I was grateful for the opportunity to travel for a while. I was also fairly proud of myself for surviving my first day in Mauritania.

I had nothing better to do for the next couple of hours, so I remained at my table for a while. The sunlight grew dimmer outside. The traffic thinned, though became no less angry. The people on the streets began to disappear. I had no idea where all these people could go, as there seemed very few buildings around that could be used as housing. Perhaps they all simply dissolved into the sand. They seemed as much a part of this place as the stone blocks and rusty cars.
I left some money on the table with the remainder of my meal and clambered out of the booth. As I left the cafe my skin met with a sudden chill. Without the hot desert sun to keep watch over the streets, darkness and cold had crept in. Dressed for the afternoon weather my breath became shallow and uncertain in my chest. I shivered and hurried back along the road to my hotel. After a while I began to see the lights of my hotel in the distance. It looked so far away as it twinkled at the other side of the vast ocean of cool blue sand that lay ahead of me. I shivered again. I had a lot to get used to in Mauritania.

finally got on the bus and off to Hans. later in the night we went to the park. it was muddy.

on the friday the 31st of october the entirity of my family is carging up to killin and staying over night, the next morning most of that vast group shall be climbing a monroe (big hill :) ) that night, we shall be having a ceilidh in the vilage hall there. This is to comemorate my uncle successfully climbing every single monroe, which is a fair few.
I've been told that i am more than welcome to bring freinds along for either the ceilidh, or the whole thing, big walk and all. There are limited spaces in the youth hostel there, so chances are we'd be camping outside the hostel. You would need to arange your own transport up to killin if theres more trhgan one of you wanting to go. I guarantee a good ceilidh for those who come, my cousins band is providing the music and they are rather good :)

Well I think my body clock is seriously messed up today.
Got up at around 10.30am, not bad.
Went to work at 12. Got a lift cos guess what...rain.
So without the lift i ddnt have to walk (duh) so you would think i would be LESS tired.
and i even got sent home 3 hours early! YASSSS me thinks. cos i really had to sort out my personal statement.
But i think cos i got home so early, and had an early dinner, my body just thinks its time for bed lol.
So yeh. I think i might just get some sleep.
Cos im working at 10 2moro and I have more personal statement and CV writing to do after work.
I actually cant wait to go back to skl now. I mean, it has its downfalls, plenty of them, but i really miss seeing everyone.
Im really glad to see most of the people in our group have grown up so much this summer! its cool. the common room will be very different on our return i think.
See if something says "ready to ship in 3-5 days" when u buy online, does that mean it will arrive then or get put in the post then? im such a noob.
however, i did manage to correctly guess the password and username for my dads credit card info. so YAY TO ME.

Yeh. we went back to the shop and we all got pot noodles.
went back to Gillians house, made the noodles and made tea.
Then the dictator lis decided we were al going to go through to gills room and watch Edward Sissorhands.
A VERY BAD CHOICE i might add, made worse by her TALKING ALL THE WAY THROUGH IT

i get off the plain from here at around 11, then im just cyclin straight into town to buy some new clothes for france, so if any1 is in let us kno :)
got the courage to cycle to fintry on tuesday
only did it cos i thought i would get to see Ben and Lisa at the end of it.
Got to fintry and found out that neither of them could make it out.
so i had to cycle back right after i got there which seemed abit pointless but i guess it wasnt cos i can cycle again.
even tho im still terrified.
oh and people keep asking me to meet up on weekdays - i cant make it - working!! im free the last week of the holidays tho. so do people wanna have a big meet up or something?

The cafe was really quiet today. We got loads of salad and soup made up in the morning. I made meringues (OMG I SPELT THAT RIGHT FIRST TIME!) and strawberry tarts. And peeled eggs lol.
So yeh, we had stocked up.
Then I got working on the coffee machine. Invented new kinda of coffee lol.
OVER CHARGED A FAMILY BY £19.50 today! OOOOOOOOPS.
It all got sorted out tho.
Phew.
Numpty. Pressed 2-1-1-0 instead of 2-1-0 so charged £21.10 instead of £2.10 for a drink lol.
So yeh. Home. Gotta tidy my room. Only paid £17 for today, which is ok. I dont really need the money.

yeah, for those who dont know, this is the story.
a few weeks ago Ed said he'd be having a party this weekend, for his birthday and it was gonna be huge.
However, at the same time my mum was trying to organise a trip down to london, to see my step sister and her husband and two sons (shes 30 something).
SO. I said id rather go to Ed's partay, mum said fine, so booked flights down to london for her, step dad and bro.
Then last week, Ed had to cancel the partay. Shit.
SO i phoned mum and said to book me a ticket too down to london.
THEN, i heard that there was gonna be a big camping trip in Killearn instead.
I phoned my mum to find out when we'd be flying down to london, and if id b able to go camping.
Mum phoned back saying that we would be flying south at 7:30 on saturday morning.
SO unless i could find a lift into Glasgow for 7 i wouldnt be camping. Shit.
so tonight (friday) i got the bus into glasgow(after packing everything id need for three weeks away, including T IN THE PARK , BARBADOS and FRANCE) with Ray, Claire, Fox and Crotch, to buy some booooooooze
SO we headed back towards the bus stop to get back onto the bus, via a nice pub on Great western Rd.
At which point i decided id do my best to b in killearn for as long as possible.
SO we went to get on the bus, Claire and Stewart Mcann (hu was also there) managed to get on, but b4 me, Ray, Crotch or Fox could get on it drove off. LOL. twas a larf and a harf.
so we waited for another hour for the next bus, passing the time by drinking heavily and sharing stories of a funny nature.
we eventually got on the bus and managed to make it to killearn, and drink some more of the alcomohol we bought in town.
i needed to get the last bus into glasgow so that i could ge back to my mums in time to get some sleep b4 wakin up a few hours later to fly down south. Hannah found me at the bus stop in killearn waiting for the bus, and we chatted ( cant remember what about but we deffinately chatted)
I managed to fall asleep on the bus and got woke up at buchanan street bus station, where i had to phone Cam to voice my annoyance publicly that i had to walk the six odd miles bak to my mums house in the west end WHILE BEING ABSOLUTELY OU OF MY FACE DRUNK!(there is nothion more sobering than a VERY brisk stroll thru the west end of glasgow during the early hours of the morning)
Eventually got home, and explained to my mum how drunk i was...she said have a nice hangover and good night. (i predict i shall)
It is now 12 minutes past 1 in the morning and i have 5 hrs to sleep off the effects of downing a half litre bottle of vodka in half an hour b4 i will have to get up and get on a plane!! (possibly the worst place ever to have a hangiver) down to london.
WISH ME LUCK LOL.

Everyone is well and we have just travelled to Mzuzu, a major town in the
north of Malawi. We're here for one night and then we're travelling along
the lake shore road to liwonde national park.
All the people are very friendly and no injuries yet so its all good. I

yea, i got a row off of miss stewart today for always going down into music during my frees, and eventually she said you may aswell just take sound engineering so that you're actually doing something productive. Then I got a lecture from cam and Oz on how easy the higher course is so i mightr aswell,. So ye im goin to talk to Dr Lawrence on monday about gettin it stuck into my timetable. should b fun.

Thanks to everyone who made yesterday such a good wee day (I've written about that over on my blog, cant beat publicity eh?) I honestly had such a laugh even when i was dodging the rain and running into shops to buy an umbrella. All i can say is umbrella sales must be up after yesterday!
Anyway enough about umbrellas.
So its next week the Malawi folk get back am i right? Jeezo they've been away for ages! :o Been awfy quiet in the common room without Bekkis singing and of course David and I's little tiffs every so often (we're the best of mates really :P) Anyway i hope they've all had a great time and wherever tehy're off to next on their travels, have a great time there!

-Ok, what if you got to the control and it was stuck, completely imovable?
- Yup, I would dash out of my control box and along the rails to the manual control, and pull that lever turning on the signal.
-Fine. Now what if the manual control has ben struck by lightening and is stuck fast?
-Well, id das back to my control box and push the electric button turning on all the emergency signals
-And what if the control box was on fire?
-Then i'd dash to my uuncle George's house who lives in the next town and get him to come here.
-And why is that?
- Because he's never seen a train crash
